Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An incredible foliage plant. Glossy burgundy-red foliage matures to a bronzy green. Mauve pink flowers create a striking contrast against the dark leaves. Recently introduced to the United States.
This hybrid is new in this country and unlike any other rhododendron. Very striking and unusual deep burgundy red new foliage turns to a bronze-green as it matures. Large, light mauve-pink flowers are a perfect contrast to the dark foliage.

Both foliage and blossom compete for best in show on this flashy plant. Broadly shaped soft mauve trusses are sprinkled with reddish-brown freckles. Mature foliage presenting coppery green in color is accented with splashes of new growth in reddish bronzes deepening to dark purplish red. This spectacular mid-season beauty matures to approximately 3' x 3' in 15 years.
Rounded soft pink blooms.
Has the richest glowing purple red glossy foliage most of the year. In the spring-fall these leaves practically glow. This sport of R. 'Pink Pearl' will have unusual pink mauve flowers in April-May.
