Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Lovely very deep green foliaged fern. This Chinese and Japanese native has upright fronds that can get a foot or more. A very striking fern.
Polystichum rigens, or Rigid Holly Fern, is a dense, evergreen, mounding species that maxes out at about 16″. It’s compact size makes it an excellent choice for the front of a shady border. The triangular, leathery, bipinnate leaf fronds will emerge lime green, but darken as they mature. Ferns thrive in neutral to acidic, loose, richly organic soil. Excellent for mass plantings, rock gardens, containers, in woodlands and naturalized landscapes.
