Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Iris ensata grow happily at the waterside, in pots sitting in water, or in average garden beds with reasonable moisture. They form vigorous clumps of upright, grassy-green leaves. 'Machi Musume' blooms with large, white flowers with a faint flush of pink topped with small, dark purple standards.
Rare and lovely selection with striking white falls marked with lavender veining and shocking purple standards. I saw this in a garden and searched for years to find it! Erect clumps of 20” tall evergreen leaves with May-June flowering stems well above the foliage. Full sun in rich, moist, acidic soils preferred but performs on ordinary moist to wet garden sites; can be submerged in a pond or water feature during the warmer months (remove for winter).
