Saxifraga fortunei 'Rubrifolia' is commonly known as a Japanese rockfoil. It has fleshy, rounded, lobed basal leaves that are two-toned green with burgundy undersides. Burgundy-pink stems rise well above the foliage displaying airy clusters of slender, long white petals with yellow centres in autumn. Makes a great specimen for containers and troughs, at the front of the shady border or in the woodland, or as a mass-planted ground cover for foliage interest and late summer colour with other woodland treasures. Deer and rabbit resistant.

Saxifraga fortunei ‘Rubrifolia’ is an interesting clump groundcover displaying shiny, round, red-bronze leaves with carmine beneath. Airy clusters of long, white star flowers on rosy pink stems in Fall. Japanese Rock Foil is easy to grow in shaded, well-drained, cool, moist soil with moderate watering and an occasional feeding. Use as a shade groundcover for rock garden or woodland plantings.
