New variety bred by Dr Carl Whitcomb that has the ability to bloom for an exceptionally long period (up to 100 days!). Dark, dramatic deep purple foliage is the perfect backdrop for the cherry red flowers in summer. Small tree 8-10’ tall forms a rounded crown. Deciduous foliage is mildew resistant. Loves the heat, full sun, most soils (clay is OK), drought tolerant when established.
