Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A beautiful, aromatic Sage from San Diego to Baja, Mexico. Salvia munzii resembles Salvia mellifera but is a more compact shrub, usually only 2’-3’ tall & 3’-4’ across. From June to August it bears clusters of bright blue flowers held in fairly dense whorls above the small, oval, olive green foliage. More tolerant of Summer water than Salvia mellifera, it can be grown in the mixed garden. Extremely drought tolerant, it may go deciduous without any Summer water. The delicious fragrance is similar to Salvia clevelandii. Best in full sun & good drainage. Hardy to 20 °F?
