Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A rare and striking large (though slow-growing) tree whose leaves are deeply cut into narrow lobes. S/M
Soft, 8 to 10 inch leaves are deeply dissected to the midrib: feathery and slightly grayish. Quite rare. Performs best with good soil and summer water. Minimum temperature: -20°F
Some European and Asian White Oak selections have dissected leaves, but this one takes the cake. The leaves are large, variable, and deeply cut. With time, it develops a dense lacy crown that always turns heads. A great gift item for a few of your very best clients!
Quercus dentata is a beautiful oak ranging through China, Japan, & Korea. It features some of the larges leaves of any oak, up to 1' long and 7" wide. 'Pinnatifida' has deeply cut lobes and is unlike any other oak tree. This is a slow growing variety, reaching 8-10' in about 10 years. Give it good soil conditions and some summer water when it's dry and it will do well. I've seen wide ranging information about hardiness, some sources list zone 4 and some list zone 6. I've read accounts of it surviving -17 degrees, so I am listing it as zone 5.
This is an extremely rare and unique oak with foliage that looks fernlike as its leaves are deeply divided into narrow lobes. It is slow growing to 12-15'. You'll love this one!

This Japanese or Chinese native large shrub or small tree has the most amazingly different leaves. The oak leaves don't look like any oak we have ever seen. The leaves are 10" long and are lobed to the midrib. The first time we saw Q. d. 'Pinnatifida' we thought philodendron, not oak.
