Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Elaeagnus latifolia, known as Indian Olive or So-Shang, is a large-fruited relative of the Goumi and Silverberry native to high elevations in Nepal and India. A semi-deciduous shrub, Indian Olive can grow up to 9 feet tall by 9 feet wide and grows somewhat like a liana, tending to trail between taller nearby plants. Ornamental, silvery foliage is accented by 2”, sour plum like fruit. Young plants are not very tolerant of drought, so please keep at average moisture levels. This plant is not very well known in the USA and so far as we know, Wanderlust Nursery may be one of the only commercial nurseries currently offering live plants for sale. Cold hardy in USDA zones 9a and above, or to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
