Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Nepenthes sanguinea, commonly known as Pitcher Plant, is a carnivorous plant with wide-lipped, robust, nectar-rich 'pitchers' that lure insects in and digest them. Truly a wonder of nature! The reddish-orange to blood red 'pitchers' with red-spotted throats grow up to 8" long and hang down from the green foliage. Excellent in a windowsill, hanging basket, or even a closed terrarium! Carnivorous plants survive best in containers. Plant and grow in moist to wet soil mix: 50% peat moss, 50% perlite. Water with pure, low mineral water. Do not fertilize or force feed.
