Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A charming dwarf to only 3-6', even the flowers and fruits are dwarf, the form features little, narrow leaves and abundant small, funnel-shaped, scarlet flowers in late-summer which become very cute small rounded red fruits. S/M-D
This dwarf version of the fruiting pomegranate is perfect for container gardeners. The small deciduous shrub has attractive, glossy green leaves and beautiful bright orange-red flowers that appear on the tips of its fine-leafed stems from early summer through fall. It flowers abundantly during the hot days of July and August. The small 2" fruits are edible and the fruit hangs on the plant for many months adding to its ornamental appeal. Plants can be maintained under 2' in height and tolerate dryness and a restricted root system making it an excellent choice for bonsai culture.
Despite all the rage around pomegranate juice the dwarf version is a lot more adaptable due to its reduced size and perhaps some additional hardiness. It is a supreme selection for bonsai use and for hedging. Orange flowers and smaller but familiar fruit.
Bright orange, 1.5", frilly crepe-like blooms are borne continuously from spring to fall. Bears fruit freely. A small dense shrub easily grown in containers.
A dwarf, dense pomegranate that's hardy outside to zone 7 in a protected spot, against the house or other building. Although in zone 7, it probably won't fruit. It's takes the warm weather and, more important, long summers to coax them into fruiting. But never mind, unless you're dying for the fruit, it still makes a fabulous shrub. In warm areas, 2" fruit follow the Deep Red blooms. Drought tolerant but needs lots of water when in bloom - 3 times a week. New Spring leaves are bronzy and then turn bright green, ending the season in Fall yellow. Perfect for Bonsais. See photo link for 'Wonderful' -- bloom is similar but deeper Red. Species native to Persia.
