Mukgenia hybrid Nova® 'Flame' is a broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial with green, red and variegated foliage. In spring pink flowers emerge. Features glossy texture. A new, deciduous perennial from an intergenetic cross. this hybrid is an amazing combination of dark pink flowers from its Bergenia heritage and jagged leaf edges and great fall color from Mukdenia 'Crimson Fans'. The thick, leathery leaves are long lasting. Has a clumping habit. Mukgenia prefers moist, rich, well-drained soil with regular water. Plant in woodland gardens, borders and containers.
A Bergenia hybrid with Mukdenia. The flowers look somewhat like Bergenia and are bright pink in spring. All summer, the foliage is deep green and looks like a Mukdenia. In fall, the evergreen foliage will turn red purple.
Mukgenia 'Nova Flame' is an intriguing intergeneric hybrid between Bergenia and its relative Mukdenia. The foliage is thick and leathery with jagged edges and red-flushed undersides. The foliage reddens through summer presenting great fall colour before dropping for its winter dormancy. The flowers are bright fuchsia with star-like petals rather than the bell-shaped flowers of Bergenia.

This intergeneric cross from Terra Nova Nurseries combines the attractive crimson tinted foliage of Mukdenia 'Crimson Fans with the showy red larger flowers of Bergenia (pigsqueak) in late winter and early spring. Brilliant red fall color makes it a fun container accent and it is perfectly hardy in zones 4-9. Height 8" x 12" wide. Grow in a soil that has good drainage in part shade.
