Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A quite variable species in colors ranging from pure white to deep red and every color in between. "Candelabra" like stems of whorls of color are produced in early to mid Summer and can reach heights of 12" to 24" and taller. Plants require part to full shade and good moist soil. Self seeding will occur to make a fantastic display.
Easy colonizer in a lightly shaded, moist spot...cabbage green mounds of foliage spread slowly, topped by 12-18” stems with tiered whorls of flowers in shades of pink, red, blush, May to July. Extremely showy!! Cut back about 50% to encourage repeat fall bloom.
Candelabra primula tend to be mid spring bloomers that bloom for a few months with flowering stems that elongate holding the flowers in tiers at regular intervals. These species are also quite long-lived and robust. Primula japonica is an excellent plant for shade or moist soils in sunnier locations. The flowers can be magenta, pink or white. Plant in colonies for a great show.
