Attracts bees making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in average, gritty and well-drained soil.

Historic garden plant with succulent foliage. Forms rosettes of smooth, bright red leaves, shading to darker at the tips and green toward the center in winter. In summer, the leaves range in color from olive green to rich burgundy, and everything in between. The name means “aged man”. Hens & Chicks grow best in well-drained, gravelly soil that is not wet in winter. Drought tolerant. Requires little water once established. Great in containers and rock gardens. Zn 4. Blue-green rosettes, red tips, green center
