Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Wow! The dazzling foliage of this 25-35' tree is a dark reddish purple when young and very deeply incised, resulting in a canopy that looks elegant and lacey. As the leaves age they deepen to a wonderful deep-green while still retaining red leaf midribs. The late-winter catkins are deep red and incredibly showy. 'Burgundy Lace' was selected at Oregon State University and is blight resistant. If a suitable pollinizer is present a light fruit set of small edible nuts is possible. This is a gorgeous selection that will make a perfect focal point in the landscape! This tree does tend to sucker; the shoots must be removed if a single trunk is desired. S/M PP28216
An amazing new introduction from Oregon State University's breeding program, Burgundy Lace Filbert features attractive red leaves that are dissected. The winter flowers are also an attractive red color and begin to appear in January and last through the end of February. The habit of most Burgundy Lace Filberts is usually a medium-sized multi trunk tree with a broad canopy, but they can be pruned into a narrower single trunk form as well.
Our plants are grown on their own roots so you will never have to worry about needing to prune out suckering green stems that would be present on grafted trees.

This fairly new cultivar has deep purple, deeply serrated foliage. This moderate sized tree could be used as a cut back plant, so it doesn’t get too large.
