Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Cornus kousa Scarlet Fire has large, glowing pink flowers with long, pointed bracts in late spring and burgundy autumn foliage. The berry like pink-purple fruits are edible but are generally left to the birds. Best grown in organically rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. A precocious performer, it will grow to three feet in the first year and to eight feet tall by years 8-10. Grows eventually to 20-30 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide. Cultivar name: 'Rutpink'. For the 2025 Rare Flowering Tree Pre-Order plants will be in 1g pots and about 2-3 feet tall.
Supposed to be the brightest red (pink) flowering C. kousa available. Haven't seen a plant blooming but pictures are beautiful.
After a couple years of being established, the abundance of 4-5 inch lighter pink flowers will emerge as a dark-pink to fuchsia, unique from other dogwoods. Summer blooms can last for up to 8 weeks! Very showy, low maintenance, drought tolerant, and disease resistant. Fruits are red, 1 inch and round. The leaves are an attractive dark green, transitioning to red in the fall. A truly stunning tree. PP 28311
