    Iris brevicaulis is a broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial with green foliage. In spring purple flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and even moisture - regular water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry when dormant. Does well in acidic, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant, humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

    The fragrant, 4" wide flowers of this diminutive species Louisiana Iris sport purplish-blue, widely flaring sepals that are each heavily centered with creamy yellow on short zigzagging stems that hold flower buds at each turn. The Zigzag Louisiana Iris multiplies readily creating a loose ground cover that is choreographed with the changing seasons. It is at its peak in late spring when it is in flower and the foliage reaches its maximum of about 24" high. In late summer it begins to go dormant fading back to about 3-4 inches high from which it regrows all winter preparing for spring flowering. Excellent for naturalizing even in average moist soils.
