Soft golden yellow, finely petaled flowers are borne throughout the growing season on this easy to grow succulent groundcover. The Yellow Heartleaf Ice Plant or Baby Sunrose is a naturally evergreen tropical perennial that is perfectly suited to create beautiful, low maintenance hanging baskets, allow it to spill from mixed container gardens and over walls, or use it as a groundcover. Provide at least a half a day of direct sunlight and a well-drained soil.
The Yellow Baby Sunrose is a naturally evergreen perennial tropical plant and is considered to be hardy to 25oF for short periods although some resources suggest it is hardy into zone 8. Provide slightly more moisture during the growing season and keep it on the dry side during winter. A drought resistant perennial, the Baby Sunrose is also salt tolerant and deer resistant.
The Hardy Ice Plants have good drought tolerance once well established and are suitable for xeriscaping. Considered deer proof. Excessive moisture and/or poor drainage seem to be the Hardy Ice Plant's only real downfall. Please plant responsibly as Delosperma is considered to be invasive in some regions, particularly California.
