Scarlet red, 1/2-3/4" long, tart, cherry-like fruit are produced in abundance during late spring on a vigorous, pest and disease resistant deciduous fountaining shrub. The Goumi Berry is exceptionally high in vitamin C and can be enjoyed fresh or made into a jelly that is, in our opinion, as good or better than Mayhaw jelly. It can also be made into pie filling. This selection was shared with us many years ago by plantsman Sherwood Aikens of Minden, Louisiana and our plants have been productive for over 30 years with practically no maintenance. One of the few plants with a symbiotic nitrogen fixating bacteria relationship that is not a Legume. Easy and reliable.
