Nursery contributed plant descriptions

RED FOUNTAINS SCULLCAP - A herbaceous perennial with a mounding habit from the mountains of Mexico. Blooms over a long season with short spikes of bright fuchsia red tubular flowers on the new semi weeping growth. Likes sun to part shade, well drained but moist soil. Hummingbirds love it.
Clusters of deep red, 1 1/2", tubular blooms are borne throughout most of the year on this beautiful tropical spreading to mounding perennial with beautiful glossy rich green foliage. An excellent choice for hanging baskets, spilling from containers, or in the garden where hardy. Provide a moist but well-draining soil for the best results. A hummingbird magnet! Red Fountains Skullcap is considered by some to be hardy to zone 8A if provided with a deep winter mulch, we have a tendency to err on the side of caution and say zone 9 with a mulch, possibly additional protection in harder winters.
