Salvia greggii ‘Radio Red’ is a heat tolerant, colorful shrub that displays continuous, vivid red blooms. Compact. well branched shrubby habit that is neat and tidy for low maintenance. A favorite for Hummingbirds! Autumn Sage is easily grown in well-drained soil with moderate water. Tolerates drought. Prune to shape before growth begins in spring. Provides late color in beds and borders.
Radio Red Autumn Sage produces intense, brilliant red, 1" long tubular flowers that are borne along short spikes from summer to frost on this brand new selection of the drought tolerant Autumn Sage. A 'must have' for the Hummingbird lover! Radio Red Autumn Sage is a selection that was chosen for its ability to maintain that intense, screaming red color without fading in the summer heat as quickly as some varieties do. Autumn Sage is an easy and drought resistant shrub-like and generally evergreen perennial native to southwestern North America. Full sun and excellent drainage generally provide the best results. Established plants require little additional maintenance once established but may benefit from a light summer shearing. They can also be pruned in spring just before growth begins again. Some sources suggest that no fertilizer is required or desired once established.The 1" long flowers are well suited for pollination by hummingbirds, butterflies, and long tongued bees.
