Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Tropical looking luscious, dark-orchid purple flowers with a wine-colored eye bloom abundantly on this 8-12' upright shrub all summer long. This cultivar is sterile, so you do not need to worry about unwanted seedlings. Very easy-care, requires no pruning unless you wish to control its ultimate height. A perfect specimen or hedge plant that hold up to heat and drought and resists deer and rabbits while bringing in bees and hummingbirds! S/M/GDr PP28839
Purple Satin® Althea produces large rich purple single Hibiscus like flowers throughout summer. This is a sterile Rose of Sharon or Althea that doesn't waste energy on seed production and so it produces many more flowers over a longer season. The Rose of Sharon is a vigorous easy to grow naturally upright to vase shaped shrub that also makes great tree standards, hedges, or screens. Provide ample sunlight and a well-drained, fertile soil. The Rose of Sharon or Althea is an easily grown deciduous shrub that was once a common pass along plant. This durable shrub is tolerant of a wide variety of soil types, is moderately drought tolerant once well established (though it will flower more with adequate moisture and fertility), and will provide many years of enjoyment with its procession of summer flowers.
