Nursery contributed plant descriptions

It's like having fall color year round! The new growth of Peach Perfection™ Abelia offers shades of orange and copper that matures to bright yellow and chartreuse on reddish stems on a compact plant. Spring and summer bring clusters of large bell-shaped, nectar rich, white flowers that draw butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. The clusters of long-lasting sepals darken to contrasting shades of pink adding to the continuous show of color this reliably tough semi-evergreen shrub has to offer. Provide Peach Perfection™ Abelia with a full to mostly sunny position in most any well-drained soil for the best color and optimum flowering. Abelias are adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions but will do best in the long run when soils have average or better drainage. They are salt tolerant and deer resistant and can be pruned to shape if desired although their natural arching to mounding form will often produce the most flowers for pollinators. Once established in the landscape they require very little care and maintenance. If flowering seems to slow down remove about one third of the oldest stems in the shrub for renewal and fertilize with a balanced slow release fertilizer.
