Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Large splashes of bright pink adorn the leaves of this colorful Joseph's Coat. Party Time Alternanthera makes a statement spilling from containers, baskets, and in the garden where its color will show off until frost. These tender tropicals are great for shadier areas preferring midday and afternoon shade or light shade all day. Alternantheras are generally small, herbaceous, shrub-like, tropical perennials often selected for their great foliage color. They can be successfully overwintered in a well lit area indoors where not hardy. Alterantheras have been known to survive mild winters into zone 9 if given a protected site, an appropriate organic mulch, and excellent winter drainage. These plants are amenable to light to moderate pruning and will reward you with denser fuller growth. Party Time Alternanthera may periodically produce small white Gomphrena-like flowers.
