Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Large clusters of orange-yellow trumpets have a dark orange patch along with darker orange streaks leading into the throat of each flower. Similar in growth habit and appears to be comparable in flower power to Gold Star. Esperanzas are root hardy, die-back perennials into zone 8 and can become large shrubs to small trees in tropical climates. These are easy to grow reliable and free flowering garden additions that can be enjoyed as container plants where not hardy. Provide a full to mostly sunny location in a fertile, well-drained soil for the best results. Flowers attract bees and occasionally butterflies and hummingbirds. Occasional deadheading will help keep the plant clean as well as promoting additional flowering although it is not a requirement as it will continue to produce buds and blooms until the first frost.
