Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Egg yolk yellow to pastel orange flowers emerge from spikes of red and green bracts and may be produced nearly throughout the year. The flowers contrast nicely with the colorful blueish green, glossy foliage with reddish-purple veining. Hophead Barleria develops into a small but well branched full shrub and makes an easy to enjoy container plant as it is drought resistant enough to use in xeriscapes where hardy. Grows well in full sun to part shade. Hophead Barleria readily reseeds so deadhead it to prevent unwanted seedlings. It is tropical and is sensitive to temperatures below 32 °F so it has almost no invasive potential in zones 8 and colder. Elsewhere please plant and dispose of plant parts responsibly.
