    A rare hybrid of the Aztec Lily and Amaryllis, the Hippeastrelia produces large dark red velvety flowers that are similar to the flowers of the Aztec Lily but with wider petals which are borne on sturdy stalks above the strap-like foliage in fall. Provide a well-draining soil with afternoon shade for best results. Makes an easy container plant or use it in the garden where hardy.
