Brillantaisia owariensis is a fast-growing broadleaf semi-evergreen perennial with green foliage. In fall, spring and summer blue and lavender flowers emerge. Attracts bees, beneficial insects and hummingbirds making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with mostly sun - dappled shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and humidity tolerant.

An unusual plant rarely found for sale in the US, Giant Blue African Salvia produces spikes, up to 16" high, of blue to purple, up to 2" long, hooded, two-lipped, tubular, lightly fragrant flowers throughout the warmer months of the year with heaviest flowering in spring and late summer and fall. A vigorous tender herbaceous plant with very large tropical foliage and square stems that can easily reach 6-9' high and may grow to 15' high becoming tree-like in its native habitat. Giant Salvia is considered root hardy to about 25 °F for short periods. Moderately shade tolerant and typically found growing in wet to moist soils it should do fine under average moisture conditions once well established. When grown in full sun to mostly sunny positions moist to wet soils will likely be preferred.
