The Calusa® Mexican Fire Bush boasts deep rich reddish colored foliage, a denser branching more compact habit, large clusters of deep orange-red tubular flowers, and improved disease resistance. This durable, heat and sun loving tropical shrub to die-back perennial flowers continuously throughout the summer and well into fall and may flower year round under frost free conditions. The showy flowers attract hummingbirds, larger butterflies, and tiny halactid bees. A fast growing, drought resistant, moderately salt tolerant tropical south Florida native that grows into a medium to large shrub in the warmer portions of its range. It has proven to be a reliable perennial in zone 8B.
