Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Deep purple, 2" long tubular flowers adorn tall sturdy stems from late spring to fall on this vigorous perennial Salvia. Betsy's Choice Salvia originates from the garden of noted Salvia author Betsy Clebcsh. It is definitely vigorous so give this one room to grow and it is sure to be adored by hummingbirds. Provide a full to mostly sunny location in a well-drained, average moist, fertile soil. Betsy's Choice Salvia is very similar to Amistad and Purple Majesty. Like Purple Majesty it does not produce the tubers that so many S. guaraniticas do. In the northern portions of its range provide a breathable winter mulch to help ensure its return in the spring.
