Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Italian Romano beans are very special & differ from the better known rounded types by being wide & flat. They also have a distinctive flavor & a meaty texture; some green bean lovers will only eat Romano beans. Usually green, the reputable Vermont Bean Company is now offering these golden yellow bush beans. Steam or sauté them to create a golden pile of veggies or add more contrast by mixing them with green Romano beans. Please note that Romanos cook faster than other green beans types you may be familiar with. Plant all bush beans 6” apart in decent soil and pick the beans often. Full sun is preferable but they will also produce in part shade.
