Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Fragrant, brightest egg-yolk-yellow flowers erupt in Spring – instantly illuminating any garden and producing plenty of blooms for bouquets! Ideally suited to our coastal, Mediterranean climate, these easy-peasy South African bulbs are one of the first to bloom in Spring. Their lush and lovely sword-shaped foliage forms a dense, 1’ tall mass that grows thru the Winter months. Numerous flower spikes eventually emerge, each topped with a spray of brilliant blossoms that open in slow succession. Once flowering is finished the bulbs go dormant – during which time water should be reduced from Average to Low. Plant in rich, well-draining soil for best health and vigor. Lift bulbs in colder zones before first frost.
