Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Woo-hoo! It's so rewarding to find a new extraordinary Salvia after years of trialing new species! Native to dry, rocky slopes in the Middle East - this perennial beauty forms an attractive clump of fresh-scented, scalloped, softly furry leaves topped in Summer with a multitude of strong, upright, branching 2' flower spikes. Fascinating blooms 2” in size and 2-lipped are displayed in widely spaced whorls - the upper lip: lavender and shiny and sporting long stamens, arches over an ornately marked deep-purple, white, and gold lower lip. Each flower lasts about a month and the bloom season lasts from mid-Summer thru Fall. A show-stopper for the dry garden, container (15+ Gal), and parking strip - just provide well-drained soil and an annual side-dress of compost for a gorgeous plant.
