Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This new variety of roseleaf sage features lightly hairy, soft pink tubular 1.5” flowers that seem to glow in the sunlight. The herbaceous involucrata species is native to lightly shaded areas of Puebla and Veracruz in Mexico. This variety showcases large and colorful flower bracts. These bracts occur in pairs, each enveloping three flowers, and fall away as the flowers expand. ‘Pink Icicles’ grows quickly, reaching a height of 5-6.’ Flowers appear in abundance in late Summer, lasting until first frost. After blooming, cut back this multi-stemmed bush to 1’ tall for a fresh looking plant each year. Best planted in Part Sun in humus-enriched, well-drained soil. Deep water once a week. Hummingbirds love these candy-floss pink flowers so be sure to plant this shrub where you’ll appreciate regular visitors. As far as hummers are concerned, these flowers give ‘good lip’!
