Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Everyone swoons for the ultra royal blue flowers of Salvia patens and now, who can possibly resist this more garden appropriate sized variety with – bonus! – extra big 2.5" blooms? I know I can't! Boasting strong upright branching stems, it quickly reaches 4' tall and 3' across to put out a strong show of that glorious color Summer to Fall. Combines harmoniously with Salvia 'Dyson's Orangey-Pink' and Salvia 'Stormy Pink' and oh, how the hummingbirds will smile! Big thanks to Ernie Wasson, former garden manager at Santa Cruz's Cabrillo College. Prefers well drained soil with an annual side-dress of compost. Cut back to a few inches in Winter.
