Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Famous for HUGE bright red tomatoes, all deeply ribbed and pleated and weighing up to ONE pound each! Cutting them into slices reveals attractive scalloped edges and hollow areas inside - very pretty presented on a plate or in a salad. The tomatoes are sweet and fleshy (like paste tomatoes) - perfect for hollowing out and stuffing as well as for dry roasting and dehydrating. This HEIRLOOM tomato originates from Oaxaca, Mexico - it thrives in dry heat areas and since it also DROUGHT TOLERANT (!), it has become popular in the US South West as a great desert tomato. It presumably would also love the hot interior areas of California. In cooler places, experiment with the sunniest and hottest place you have got in your garden. Indeterminate, so provide a trellis or a cage to support the robust 6’ plant.
