Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Introduced by Santa Barbara Botanical Garden and just recently becoming available, this rare and sensational member of the Aster family is native to Guadalupe Island off the coast of Baja California (so not technically a native but close, with a summer dry climate). Brilliant, silvery-white, slender, fuzzy, foliage and dense, upright, branching stems create a compact, 2’x2’ shrub. Blooming spring thru summer, the bright 1” golden yellow “daisies” are well displayed above the striking foliage in plentiful clusters atop 6-8” upright stems. Extremely tolerant of heat and drought, it needs little to no additional water once established, especially in coastal condition. Requires infertile to average very well-drained soil. Hardy to 20-25 degrees F.
