Nursery contributed plant descriptions

There’s nothing like sage for adding depth of flavor to any savory dish – especially eggs, stews and poultry. Forming a dense, mounding shrub to 2’ high and wide, it fits nicely into any garden and can be kept in a 2 gallon pot almost indefinitely with an annual root pruning. Low-water, low-maintenance and beautifully fragrant – it’s a joy to grow even if you never stick it in your mouth. This variegated sport of ‘Berggarten’ has thinner, less fuzzy leaves edged irregularly in eye-catching pale yellow. Produces pretty purple blooms in late Spring much loved by hummers, bees and butterflies. Some say not to harvest the leaves during flowering, but go ahead and do it anyway – it’s totes fine. Goes deciduous in Winter so be sure to dry some leaves to last you until Spring. Provide good drainage for a happy plant. Deer resistant and drought tolerant once established.
