Nursery contributed plant descriptions

New for 2016! Stump your geeky plant buddies with this ultra-rare shrub from the Canary Islands! With gorgeous lavender-pink “pin cushion” flowers held in clusters, it grows up to 5’ tall with an open, airy form – leaves and flowers emerge only at the very tips of bare branches. Honestly, we don’t fully know how it will behave here because, as far as we can tell, we are the first people to grow it in the U.S. We did, however, just finish our winter hardiness trials and it breezed through a USDA zone 9 winter unfazed and could likely go lower. Provide good drainage, plenty of sunshine, and please let us know how it grows for you!
