Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Super shiny, silky leaves are the deluxe feature of this rare shrub from the winter rainfall area of South Africa. With a naturally rounded form, it has an “eversilver” presence in the garden, eventually reaching over 3’ tall & wide. Flowers are smallish & mauve & appear for a few months in late winter & early spring, when any color is most welcome, are sweetly fragrant, & are followed by showy, inflated spring green seed pods. This Podalyria does best in loamy, acidic soil, & does not tolerate frost early on, so amend your soil well, & protect plants when they’re young! After the plants mature they are fairly tolerant of drought.
