Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An EXTREMELY RARE Winter bloomer! During the dark days of Winter, Polymnia maculata comes along with its massive floral display of cheerful, 1.5” yellow daisies. But it’s the stems that really steal the show – forming a bamboo-like thicket of 15-20’ tall(!) green and purple mottled stems with broad hairy leaves. Hailing from the cloud forests of Mexico, it’s happiest in coastal conditions, so please, not too much heat. Fog-dampened summers are preferred. Provide protection from hard frosts. Rich garden soil, partial shade, and ample water will bring on the blooms – bees and butterflies will soon follow suit!
