Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Monlo Ninebark is a versatile shrub with year-round interest. Creamy white flowers brighten up the darker foliage in summer, it also has great fall color and unique bark in the winter. Prune Monlo Ninebark after flowering if needed to retain shape. With its upright, arching branches and deep purple foliage, it is a great accent plant for any garden or landscape. The Monlo Ninebark is propagated from Diabolo® Ninebark.
With striking plum-burgundy foliage, 3-5” clusters of creamy white flowers, attractive red seedpods and distinctive peeling bark, this hardy eastern Ninebark is the perfect shrub! Tough as nails and fast-growing, this showstopper will reach 6-8’ tall and wide, making it an ideal focal point in the garden. Beloved by bees, butterflies and songbirds, the 3-5 lobed 4” leaves on this deciduous shrub quickly appear in late winter, followed by blooms in April or May. Makes a sophisticated statement when planted in contrast to green and yellow foliaged plants. Can be used as a hedge, screen or for erosion-control on banks and hillsides – excellent for fire-scaping! Peeling bark increases with age. Can handle our CLAY-ish soil, disease and insect resistant!
