Hot, Hot, Hot! Popular in fiery Thai dishes, but adaptable to other cuisines, you can usually find it in specialty markets, but it’s easy to grow in the garden. Even if you don’t like hot peppers, it’s a good-looking, lightly curvy ornamental: tall & bushy with loads of peppers to 1-3” long by less than 1/2” wide. Matures from green to orange & then to red in 90-100 days. The flesh is thin, making it the perfect pepper for drying & using for spicy winter dishes. ‘Thai Burapa’ is rated 50,000 -100,000 on the Scoville scale (SHU) of pepper hotness. (A rating of 500 -1000 SHU is considered pretty spicy.) Cool summers cause a lower rating, but still - be warned! Grow in full sun & good soil for container gardening. May live outside in climates with mild winters, or bring the pot inside. May be Perennial in USDA zones 9b-10.
