Nursery contributed plant descriptions

What happens when you combine one of the rarest, hard-to-grow Passifloras with its super-easy, vigorous cousin? THIS is what! 'Oaklandia' possesses many of the finer features of P. parritae (notably the suffuse carmine-orange color) & the sunny, unstoppable disposition of P. tarminiana. Easily & happily turn that cyclone fence you've been wanting to hide into something oh-so-very-pretty! Growing to about 20' high & wide, 'Oaklandia' is evergreen, with outward-facing flowers to 5" across. It’s tested tough through recent Richmond winters - so far, we've only seen it bloom in June – but once established, it may bloom other times as well ... we shall see! Even with a once-a-year show, it's SO impressive & worthy of clearing a place on your fence! Rich, well-drained soil & consistent water will make for a happy plant. Many thanks to generous Passiflora enthusiast Liz Waterman for sharing this new, exciting Passionflower with us!
