Nursery contributed plant descriptions

From Argentina & Chile, this extremely handsome & fascinating, finely textured grass is ideal for meadow plantings, hillsides & of course - totally crazy, cool low maintenance lawns! ‘Golden Hair Grass” forms long-tressed, swirling tussocks - to about 12” tall & 20” across. New growth is a soft emerald green, turning tawny gold & then pinkish-rose over time. It’s easy to grow, very drought tolerant – & long-lived, too! Unlike some of its badly-behaved relatives, this Nassella is non-invasive & has not been known to self-sow, at least not here in the Bay Area. Since there is little information available, we are not sure yet of its hardiness, so we will go with USDA Zone 9 & 10 for right now. Not very fussy about soil, but good drainage is recommended.
