Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Many growers and gardeners feel that this is the best Kohlrabi they’ve ever grown. Replacing the popular ‘Winner’ variety, it is a slightly more compact plant, allowing for tighter spacing and higher yields. Can be harvested when the bulbs are as large as 6” without getting woody! It displays remarkable uniformity, texture, and flavor. Exceptionally sweet and mild. This variety is also easy to peel. For first time kohlrabi growers, the bulb is like a cross between a radish and a jicama, while the greens resemble those of broccoli and collards. This cool weather crop is best planted in mid-Fall to late Winter. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Maturity period is 40 days. Harvested bulbs will keep for several weeks in the fridge. To store the leaves, cut them off and wrap the stems in a damp paper towel and place in a plastic bag. They’ll keep in the fridge for 3-4 days.
