Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The sun has descended to your garden! Lachenalias are such wonderful plants for the Winter - your spirit can’t help but to be lifted when they go into bloom around November or December. The Golden Lachenalia is a selection with pure golden 1” flowers on unusually tall 10” flower stems that emerge from green strap-like leaves often speckled with purple. Originating in South Africa, it is at home in mild winter summer dry climates like California, & naturalizes easily without getting weedy. However, it is frost tender & must be brought to a cool & bright place in your house in cold winter areas. Fortunately, it is very suitable for a pot & grows quite happily in a sunny window. Avoid watering during its Summer dormancy.
