Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of our absolute favorite bulbs! Lachenalias are easy to grow, perform beautifully in containers, tolerate extreme neglect, & come in a wide array of fantastic colors. One of the first bulbs to bloom in Spring, ‘Rupert’ shoots up a 10” freckled flower spike of fantastic, hummer-friendly blooms that transition from blue at the base to a luminous pinky-purple. The long-lasting flowers will give you many weeks of pleasure before finally going dormant for the Summer. It is important to give these bulbs little to no Summer water - so either plant them in a low water bed or keep them in a pot that you can set aside & forget about until their showy, spotted leaves emerge in late Winter. Forms a clump over time for a bigger, better display every year!
