Is it a GIANT prehistoric flower? Nope, it's a Decorative Kale! While technically edible, like their tastier & more tender cousins in the Kale & Cabbage family, these are primarily grown for the amazingly vivid clusters of foliage, which create uniform, heavily fringed tight rosettes (to 18” tall x 2’ across) sporting frilly, dark green outer edges & a vivid, violaceous center. Tolerant of a bit of frost, this Ornamental Kale will maintain its amazing color thru mild Winters - the most intense shades will display when overnight temps regularly go below 60 degrees F, but not lower than 20 degrees F. Fantastic in containers on a porch or patio, or plant 3-6 together (give ‘em at least 6” apart) in the front of a garden bed to create mild-to-cold weather contrasting, colorful foliar fascination!
