Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Like a peacock regally attired in royal purple robes, this gorgeous thing is the love child of our local friend and Iris hybridizer Ryan Grisso. Highly prized for its outrageous 4-5" blooms, this regal California native has a tough side - and can take just about anything you throw at it. Shade, drought and deer won't faze it! Perfect for planting under oaks or in low-water gardens, Pacific Coast Irises are an excellent way to spruce up that dry shady patch. Super low-maintenance, they technically need NO SUMMER WATER once established, but will benefit from a monthly splash and will look best with a bit a cleaning up in the Fall. Provide good drainage & once you’ve got a good sized clump, you can divide it in December & share with friends. Provide more shade inland, especially if growing in low-water situations.
