Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This hard-to-find mid-Summer thru Fall blooming native “Goldenrod” of the south and southeastern U.S. is a charming boon in the dry or rock garden. Produces multiple 12-15” tall upright stems topped with fat, showy umbels of bright yellow blooms held high above grass-like tufts of soft green foliage about 6” tall and wide. Found in Summer-dry alpine conditions, it is drought tolerant, a great food source for honey bees and other beneficial insects, and makes a lovely cut flower. Goes Winter dormant in cold Winter areas, returning in late Spring. Self-sows if open soil is available, producing more of these adorable natives to brighten your garden. Happy in any well-draining soil. Give it a little supplemental water in the hottest months for extended bloom.
